I am looking to buy a set of bagpipes, probably used, and would like to know what the term "combing" referes to? I will see a set and it will state that the set is "
well combed".

Peter....combing is basically a series of fine grooves on the surface of the wood for ornamentation purposes.Usually you will see it mentioned along with beading which is the rounded space between the combing.These have nothing to do with sound but rather with appearance and craftmanship.Good luck with your bagpipe purchase...Thom
