Both of my young sons have Kintail pipes approximately two years old. They are using ez-drone reeds. I have tried everything but can't get these reeds to tune without practically having the drones fall off because they tune so high. Any suggestions?

Oh golly, lots can be done!!!
(Not necessaryily in this order)
1st, unscrew the tuning screws all the way,
2nd wrap some hemp around the rubber end so the reed sticks out of the drone seat more.
3rd, adjust the bridle so the tongue is a hair longer, this will make the reed harder to blow however.
4th, type in Dunbar Bagpipes on your computer, look for "drone reed extenders". these are bits of plastic that fit between the reed and the drone and make it possible to tune at least half a inch lower on the tuning slide.
5th, make your own drone reed extenders
6th try a set of SM 90 Shepard drone reeds, they are made to be lenghtened without changing the pitch.

As you can see I've been there, done that.

good luck

Hank
