Subject: Kilt & Hose - proper placement Author: Randall Paine [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 15:28:29 01/25/02 Fri an interesting conversation developed a little bit ago whilst discussing proper kilt length and sock placement. so where do these go? some say the kilt should be right at the top of the knee cap, other say an inch above. same with the socks, same say right at the bottom of the knee cap, and some say at least an inch below, but not more than 2 inches below. if you have some sort of "official" reference, please supply that, okay? thanking you in advance. Charles Thompson, author of "So You're Going to Wear the Kilt": Kilt Length - No lower than the top of the knee cap, preferably 1 inch shorter. Diced hose very simple, feel the SIDE of your leg roughly about the same level with the bottom of your kneecap, you should be able to feel a very prominent bone, put your forefinger and next finger together and place upperside of your forefinger level with the bottom of the bone and the combined width of the two fingers is where your diced hose should come up to, next time you have the opportunity to watch a Scottish Regiment take note of their dress.
