Matt ,
Having little experience w/smallpipes am I to understand that the physical discription of a scottish smallpipe
could ,in general , be the following .
A type of bagpipe utilizing a chanter with the highland fingering . A set of pipes that produces a reduced volume of sound than the GHP with a softer warmer nature than the GHP . These pipes are either bellows or mouth blown and are costructed in configurations ranging from small versions of the GHP to pipes with the drones on one stock resting on either shoulder , across the chest ,on the arm and or the upper leg .
These pipes seem to come with a great variety of drones configurations ; the most common being two ,three or four drones of various harmonic tunings. close ? Lloyd !
