Subject: Hastings Flights into Twinwood Airfield nr Bedford

Has anyone knowledge of Hastings flights ("once a week")into the former Cranfield satellite airfield Twinwood Farm in the 1950's. I have heard these were to take personnel to and from the nearby RAE wind tunnel site. I am surprised as I thought the airfield closed straight after the war, but appreciate the runways remained insitu into until the 1970's. When did the flights start / end and did any other aircraft fly in.

TIA - Colin Mackenzie

You probably know this already, if not try phoning Twinwood Control Tower on 01234 350413 for opening times and
further information, this of course is the airfield from which Glenn Miller took off from on his fateful journey.

If the Hastings was transporting men/equipment perhaps this was coming from the RAE at Farnborough, there used to be a Hastings in RAE colours operating out of, I think, Boscombe Down.
