I am trying to arrange a trip to the Negombo area in September 2005. Basically we're looking to be staying around the Negombo area in a 3 or 4 star hotel with air conditioning and swimming pool, within a reasonable distance of a train station for longer distance travel, and restaurants for an alternative to the fully inclusive hotel food.
With luck some of your acquaintences will have been there and hopefully your huge band of browsers might be able to come up with something out of the ordinary.
