For many yrs i have been insearch of my fathers service history and pals, I have his service records, but still on the search for pals.
Here i am in search of the following part of his final year of service as mentioned on service record.
Can anyone place any light/more on the below please. I am running out of options fast.Anything please.
LAC Clifford(Cliffy) Brooks 1941-46
ACSEC=Air Command South East Asia 8/1/46.
6 BPU= Base Postal Unit( I think)10/4/46.
Where would have been between this to dates, maybe on board a troop carrier? if so any ideas what carrier please?.
Base Singapore 9/5/46 which part of Singapore?
68 E U = Embarkation unit(I think). 14/7/46 where was 68 EU?
I have a few pictures of him and on rear are the names Karachi,Changi,Malaya.
I also have from a request the copy of original film used to make the Mutiny in the RAF documentry, which I am sure i saw my father working on Thunderbolts sqdns which i have identified, but cannot make any connection to my father.

You might go on to the RAF Mauripur Association website.
The ACSEC in 1946 was at Mauripur and we have quite a few chaps in the Association who were there at that time.If you contact Dave Holman thru the website and he can do a search for you.He will be producing a newsletter in December which he mails to all the members as only a few of us are on computers.

Tony can also find it by just going into a search engine like Yahoo and log in RAF Mauripur and as well as the Association website a whole lot of websites will come up including Mutiny in the RAF.

Try this, I personally have had success in contacting old buddies and had more success this week.
Go to TELETEXT Page 152 SERVICEPALS on Channel 4 TV (UK Channel), have a read through how people word their search and do something similar for your Dad.
I wish you luck, also try John Holloways' advice as 'The Mutiny in the RAF' piece is historic and perhaps Pathe News through ITV might have some footage on this, however the latter part is VERY expensive to retrieve

I have watched the Mutiny in the RAF documentry, and this is where i saw what i thought was a shot of my father, with this i wrote to Hendon, where they sent me a copy of the original film, but still not sure if this is my father.
Tried Tele Text a few yrs ago with out any succes, however on my journey and holding info people have sent in my files, i have been able to put others in touch with each other.
But still unable to help myself.

I was atationed at RAF Changi FECS squadron in 1950-51 as an Air Wireless Mechanic. We had a variety of aircraft then including :- Dakotas, Valettas, Harvards, an Avro York, the AOC's Auster and a Dove. In those days the BOAC comet used to land at Changi en route for Australia. I remember a Canberra on a record breaking run from the uk to Australia, it came in with a faulty radio and I was expected to fix it. I'd never seen a Canberra before and took some time opening hatches before I could find the radio, when I did it was new to me, however I tightened all the connectors up and much to my relief it worked.

My friend Master Nav. Peter De Boer died in a Valetta crash in Malaya June 15 1956.Have found his grave site alongside Sgt Sherlock & Sgt Manners buried in K.L. but can find no record of the crash. Have been in touch with Group in Malaya which researches wrecks, they have numerous details of other crashes but none concerning my friends aircraft.Can anyone help please?

The Valetta was VX521 and sadly 9 were killed.

Now that you have got date, aircraft type and serial no., and place, if you send a large SAE to the RAF Museum at Hendon they will send you a brief accident summary.

While browsing the Buck Free Press, I came upon a short story relating to a re-union of Changi RAF personnel in 2001 in Buckinghamshre. I am the son of John Henry McQillin Saunders who was stationed in Changi from about 1946 till 1949 (I was born there in 1947) and his wife Elizabeth Saunders. If anyone recalls my father, please reply. I have some old photographs of his group taken in Changi and could share them with old colleagues of his.
