I witnessed this incident from the LCSU hangar.
the aircraft spun off the runway and disappeared in a cloud of dust towards the bomb dump.I was later informed that one of the crew held off the fire tender crew with a barrage of rocks

David
Hi, Were you with LCSU? I was there from the Start, when the hanger at Akrotiri burnt down until March 1960, your name doesn't ring a bell with me, I was a radio cpl.

!959/1961 working at 3 site (bomb dump) there were twO Javlin landing mishaps both main tyres burst on toutch down (frozen brakes )u/c colapsed slid on it s belly on towards us arming ordinance at the time it slid to a halt 100 yds from us, unable to get to the crew barbd wire , they got out and legged it , and so did we . the next Javlin did same thing ,brought it to a halt held it in a straight line ,towed away working at that site you had a vested intrest in any thing toutching down.
