Subject: New Smoker

Hello everyone, this is my first posting.....
Having spent some time in Texas and become hooked on BBQ, I just aquired a New Braunfels Black Diamomd Smoker. I am a seasoned (pun) griller but this is my first foray into the world of smoking.

Anyone have any tips on initial seasoning of the unit, woods or charcoals to use, and leads on a good quality thermometer?
