Hey Peter, your going to be the Pride O Canada with that mother, which unit did you get?

Yes, at the border you will not be charged duty, you will however be charged the $180.00 payable to 'R.I.V. Canada (Registrar of Imported Vehicles) and your GST, then when you go to plate it at the Ministry of Transportation you will have to pay the PST (or visa versa with the GST&PST).

Then you will have to bring the vehicle to Canadian Tire to get the cooker certified at no expense to you, the inspection is included in the RIV fee...providing it needs nothing, mine just needed a 5 dollar set of reflectors.

Just make sure that Dave Klose gives you a 17 digit alpha numeric VIN before you hook it to your tow vehicle otherwise you're going to spend a lot of time at the border with people that don`t have a clue what to do with you and your situation and to them the safe bet would be for you to leave it right there...

With the VIN and the Riv&GST paid at the border, you'll be flying in no time....

The Riv part is only in effect if you have bought a towable smoker?...You didn`t mention if its a towable unit, if its not then disregard the RIV.

One more thing, if you want a break on the taxes when you might want to ask Dave to make you out two invoices, one for the true amount and one for about $1,000 or $1,500...it makes a HUGE difference, one for the border people and one for your records and insurance value....
