Chris is absolutely right in saying that your employer is legally obliged not to discriminate against people with disabilities, and provide reasonable accommodations, under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. However, bear in mind that it is not absolutely clear what the word 'reasonable’ means in this context. Also bear in mind that if your employer asked you directly whether you had a disability or not, and you answered that you did not, that might be a bit awkward. Having said that I am given to believe that fear of discrimination is recognised as a reality under the law. I am not a legal expert so you shouldn't take my word for it. I suggest you get some advice on this from other sources. The Adult Dyslexia Organisation or British Dyslexia Association can probably give you some guidance on this.
If you are diagnosed as dyslexic (note: you may need to have a new report done as one produced at age 13 could be too old) you might be able to apply to the Access To Work scheme run by the Benefits Agency for funding for employment supports. They will probably need to talk to your employer, and require your employer to make a financial contribution. Again, don't take my word for it, talk to the Benefits Agency about it.
