I was not in the Navy, but I was on board LST 694 from about Christmas, 1944 to Jan. 9, 1945 when we traveled from New Guinea to Lingayen Gulf for the invasion of Luzon.
So you are right, LST 694 was indeed at Lingayen Gulf. My outfit was the 289th Field Artillery Observation Battalion.
I was in the Army, of course, so I did not know any of the Navy crew men. It was quite a ride!
