Hello all. I am trying to find any information/photos whatsoever on LST 863 or any of the guys who serverd aboard her. My Dad, Jesse D. Hicks, served as a signalman on LST 863 in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign during WWII. The ship was involved in the Okinawa Gunto (Operation Iceberg) assault and occupation of Okinawa. My Dad died on November 30, 1994. I too am a Navy vet (Vietnam-era). Dad and I, unlike he and my brothers, shared a special bond as Navy vets. Any info (or suggestions) you can send my way would be greatly appreciated. Here's a link for LST 863:
