My dad served under Capt Higbee the commander of LST Squadron 21 on board the flagship LST-18 during the Wakde and Biak Island invasions. He served earlier in New Guinea on board the LST-201. He died back in 1960 when I was just 16 and he never spoke of the war to me. It was just recently that my mom passed along a little info that lead me to sites like these. If anyone out there has any info regarding those two ships or my dad I would love to hear your comments. Harold W. Groom CBM(a) when he served and Chief Warrant Officer when he left the service in 46.
