My Dad, Arthur P. McCormick (1914-1973), also served in the "first crew" of LST 694. He was with the crew that took delivery in New Orleans, practiced anti-aircraft gunnery off of Guantanamo Bay, went through the Panama Canal and thence to their tour in the Pacific. Dad was an Electricians mate 2d Class most of that tour. Along with a number of others of "first crew," Dad disembarked from LST 694 and came home on the LCI-R 73 to Hawaii and finally San Diego.
