- Halter With *Har Nazika -- Jennifer, 07:42:40 06/21/03 Sat
I decided to work with *Har Nazika on halter, she walks off and stops fine but is a little shy on setting up and streching out. Other wise she was a good horse, with some more practice she will be a great show horse.

- My horses -- Jenet, 18:16:36 05/25/03 Sun
I walk into the barn and grab one horse at a time, I tie him/her up and brush him quickly, then put him/her into the round pen, giving them a quick work out. After about a half an hour of excersize I bring thm over to the wash rack and get them completely spotless. After they are dry and clean, I hand feed them many carrots and apples. They are then put back into there stalls, where oats and hay are waiting for them.

- Working With The Horses -- Katie, 10:52:34 04/09/03 Wed
Never Say Never- I decided to ride Nevi today. We are going to work on the flat. I get his halter, lead and tack. I open his stall door and put his halter on. He seems very relaxed. I lead him out and clip him to the cross-tyes. I grab my brushes and hoof pick and groom him. I finish grooming him and get my saddle and square pad. I decide to also use a Bevel pad. I place the pads on his back and the saddle and he flinchs a bit but besides that doesn't care. I buckle the girth and do the girth up. I grab his bridle and unhook the croos ties. I bridle him and lead him into the indoor because its pretty cold out. I bring my stirrups down bring the girth up a few holes more and lead him up to mounting block. He stands nicely while I get on. We walk off and get on the rail. He seems very nicely collected. We walk about 2 laps around and I cue him into the trot he throws his head up and refuses to trot. I hope off and ask someone to hold him while I get my spurs. I put them on and get back on. I nudge him gently with the spurs and he goes off in a very nice trot. I ask him to collect and make a small 10 meter circle making sure I keep my leg to his side. He executes it beautifully. I sit the trot and give him a slight nidge of the spur and cluck and he begins a nice canter. He brings his nose in and I ask him to make a large circle. He does it nicely. I go down the diagonal of the arena and ask him to change direction. He does a nice flying lead change and continues to canter. After about 4 laps I slow him to a walk and let him walk out. He was great today. I cool him out, dismount and lead him into the barn I take my tack off and put a cooler on him and groom him and out him back in his stall.
Two Step Fly- Today I lunge Steppy. I grab the lunging surcingle, side reins, lunge whip and line. I Groom him lightly and put his lunging equipment on. I lead him into the lunging arena and let the lunge line out. I cluck to him and he automaticly begins to trot. I slow him up a bit. After a few laps I cluck to him and he begins a nice long strided canter. a few times he has little outbursts of bucks but settles. I lunge him for about 25 minutes and then I Slow him up and let him walk. Hes puffing a bit so I let him walk around for a while. I bring him into the barn and put a cooler on him. Hes pretty hot so I tie the cooler on him and put him on the hot walker. After about 5 minutes I get and bring him to the barn I groom the rest of the sweat off and put him back in his stall.
Sunday Sensation- Today I decided just to groom and turnout Sunday because he seems really really excited. I put his halter on him and lead him out. He bucks and tries to trot off. I halt him and put the chain over his nose. He tries to trot off and I pull back on the lead and he throws his head up annoyed.I open the gate and he tries to run and pull back hard on he stops and waits. I unclip the lead rope and he takes off bucking. I let him play for about 30 minutes because he was so excited when I bring him in hes exhausted. I groom him and put him back into the barn.
Down To Business- Downy seems a ton better today. I decide not to push it and I just hand walk him for about 5 minutes. I groom him lightly and put him back in his stall. I run my hand down his leg its much much better but its still a tiny bit swollen. I will probably give him a little bit more bute before I leave.
Fortuna Brillante- I decide to work on training Fortuna a little bit more today since hes still only 2. I put on a lunging cavesson and his tack on. I walk him around and then I lunge him he seems great. I grab his bridle and take the cavesson off and put the bridle on. I get on him and he seems great. this will be my 1st time riding him. I ask him to trot and he busts out in a wonderful long strided trot. He is really comfortable. I trot him in circles and such and then ask him to canter in both directions. He was great. I walk him around a bit and then trot him towards a small X. He goes right up there with no hesitiation and trots right over it A little big but still really good. I trot him over it 3 or 4 times and each time he does it great. I raise it to a 1'6 small vertical and he trots over it like a dream. I cue him to canter and he does it nicely I go over that with him 2 or 3 tims before decieded that was enough. He was really really good he could be the next great hunter he has wonderful form especially for a 2 y/o. I cool him out and then dismount. I bring him back into the barn take the tack off and he barely broke a sweat. When hes older he will be capable of big things. I put a cooler on him and groom him and put him back into his stall.
I feed all the horses their grain and hay and refill their water buckets. I make a bran mash for each of the horses because its so cold. I add some bute to Downy's. I check his leg again and it seems ok. It ill be much better tommarow. The horses were really good today

I took *Nico out of his stall and fed him some grain while i brushed him. I then led him to the indoor arena and we worked on horsemanship patterns and i also worked on picking his feet up. He did well with his front feet but he tried kicking when you got to his back feet. I then lunged him a little bit and put him outside to play with the other horses.

- Quarter Horses -- Courtney, 20:37:16 03/30/03 Sun
Sizzling Zippo: I take Fire out of his stall and tie him up. I go and get his saddle and bridle and tack him up. When I get into the arena, I get on and ask him for a walk. We walk for about 10 minutes, when I then ask him to do a lope, since we needed a little practice on that. He was wonderful at first, but tripped a little on his second time around. I bring him back down to a trot, and we trot for about 5 minutes. I un-tack him, and put him on the hot walker for 15 minutes. I go back and get him, and put him in his stall.
Choclate Chip Olena: I walk into CC's stall, and slip his halter on. I take him outside and walk around with him for a bit. I decide not to ride him, because he seems to be limping a bit. I walk him around for 20 minutes, then put him back in his stall.
Choclate Chip Cookie: I take Coco out of his stall, and groom him. Today is the first time I try riding him. I go get his tack, and let him smell it. He doesn't seem that intrested in it. I take the saddle pad, and put it on his back. He shakes a little bit, but doesn't seem to mind. I then lift the saddle on his back, and he moves around a little. I reach under for the cinch and put it in the loophole. As I start to tighten it, he bucks a little, but that was it. I decide to leave his halter on today, and just lounge him with the tack on. I take him out into the arena, and lounge him for 20 minutes. I untack him and give him a carrot and return him to his stall.
One Tuff Cookie: I take Cookie out of her stall, and tack her up. I get on her, and we walk over to he arena. We practice our sliding stops today, and she did great. She messed up a little bit on the third stop, but was great on the rest.
Jumping Jack Whiz: I take JJ out of her stall, and tack her up. I walk her over to the arena, and get on her. Today, we are working on spinning. She does about three spins, then stops. I nudge her a little bit, and we rotate the other way. She did four this time, then stopped. I decided not to push it, so I take her back to the stall and give her some hay.
Opinunated Chip: I decide to ride Chip bare-back today. I take Chip out of her stall, and clip her lead rope to the other side of her halter. I walk her outside, and use the mounting block to get on her back. She is 2 months pregnant, so her belly is a little round. We walk around the arena for 5 minutes, then I decide to take her on a short trail ride. We walk outside the gate, and around the meadow for about 30 minutes. I take her back inside and groom her, then return her to her stall.

- Turning out my horses -- Katie, 09:44:31 03/26/03 Wed
Never Say Never- I grab Nevi's halter and go to his stall. I open the stall door, slip the halter over his face and lead him out. He notices I am turning him out and he gets excited and starts to trot down the aisle. I give a tug on the lead rope and he slows to a walk. I open the gate and unclip the lead rope. He gallops off and begins to buck. He gallops up and down the the pasture. He cools out and walks around. After about 20 minutes I go out and catch him. We walk slowly back to the barn and I pick his hooves and put him back in his stall with a flake of hay.
Two Step Fly- I get Steppys halter and lead and get him from his stall. He begins to get very strong and trot down the aisle with is legs high. I pull back on the lead rope and he fights me to get back to a walk. He obviosly is raring to go. I open the gate and unclip the lead. He gallops off at full speed. He jumps all the logs and bucks in little circles. After about 5 minutes of that he slows to a walk and rolls. He gets up and walks around. I lets him roll and trot around for about 20 minutes and then I bring him in. He walks nicely down the aisle obviously liking the turn out. I pick his hooves and put him back in his stall with a flake of hay.
Sunday Sensation- I grab Sundays halter and lead and get him from his stall. He walks nicely down the aisle and I unclip the lead rope and let him go. He canters up and down the pasture and bucks. He rolls a few times. Sunday walks up to the gate and nickers for me to catch him. I catch him and bring him into the barn and pick his hooves and put him in his stall.
Down To Business- I don't turn out Downy today because he seems a little sore. I hand walk him for about 10 minutes and he seems to get better. I groom him and put him back into his stall. I make him a bran mash and add some bute to it just in cause he becomes a little stiff. I also give him a flake of hay.
Fortuna Brillante- Brillante is nickering in his stall. Hes ready to go. I grab his lead and halter. I open his stall door and he quickly comes to the door. I lead him out and he throws his head up and begins to trot. I tell him "Whoa" and he returns to a walk. I open the gate and he trys to break. I snap back on the lead rope annoyed by his sudden burst of speed. He automaticly walks and waits so I can close the gate. I unclip the lead rope and he lets out a huge buck and rears then takes off at a gallop. He gallops around then returns to a walk and rolls. He gets up and begins to canter. He trots around and then walks after about 10 minutes. I let him cool down and then bring him in. I bring him into the barn and I pick his hooves and put him back into his stall with a flake of hay. All the horses are happy.
Before I go I check on Downy. He seems a lot better and his contently chomping on some hay. I can probably turn him out tommarow.

- Riding Nevi -- Katie, 14:15:21 02/24/03 Mon
I go to the tack room and get Nevi's halter lead rope and his tack. Nevi nickers to me as I open his stall door and I slip the halter over his nose. He stands patiently. I lead him out and hook the cross tyes on to his halter. I pick his hooves and go lightly over him with a soft brush. I get a square pad and place it gently on his back. I get my saddle and place it on his back. He sidesteps slightly at the sudden weight of the saddle but calmes down. I hook the girth up and go to get the bridle. I get his bridle and unlcip him from the croos tyes. He takes bit and I do up the throatlatch and noseband. I lead him out to arena and he begins to trot I pull back on him and tell him whoa. Hes obviously excited. I tighten my girth and pull my stirrups down. I lead him up to the mounting block and I get on. He walks calmly to the rail looking like a perfect hunter. After about 2 1/2 laps I cue him to the trot. He obeys and begins a lovely trot. I ask him to collect and he does a beutiful collected trot. I trot him about 8 laps tracking both left and right. I begin to sit the trot and cue him into the canter. He responds with a beautiful canter. I canter him about 4 laps doing small 10 and 20 meter cirles I then ask him to canter dow the diagonal of the arena and cue him into a flying lead change. He does this with ease and beuaty. I canter him again for another 4 laps and ask for the walk. He was great on the flat. I let him walk about 6 laps and then cue him into the trot for a low 1'6 vertical. He does it very nicely we go over it about 4 times and eah time looks just as good as the last. I canter him to it and he perks his ears at it and acts excited I slow him up and up canters it great. I then circle and begin a course. Its a small 8 jump course. All the jumps are set at 2'6. He does the course great!! I do the same course about 2 times and ask somebody to raise the jumps. The jumps are now at 3' we do the same course and he looks the best hunter in the world. We go to the last jump (the best) and he jumps it like it was a little X with his knees up and square and his head low and freeflowing. Finally I raise all the jumps to 4'3 he jumps the whole course like it was still 1' and he does it with such beauty I walk him anf let him cool out. Nevi was GREAT today!!!

Today i gave Raven some Fresh Grass hay, as well as new water, and i mucked out her stall and groomed her. I then put her saddle and bridle on, he danced alittle. Then went to the arena, i warmed her up by trotting her around on a loose rein. Then i took up the reins, asked for collection and did some trot - canter transitions, also worked on flying lead changes and the collected canter. She is comeing along well in her dressage training, and will do well in her up comeing shows. I then untacked her and let her out to pasture.

I slowly grabbed Down to Business out of his stall and let him play in the pasture with his jolly ball for about an hour. Then took him inside and fed him 1 scoop of oats and barley mix. I cleaned out his water bucket and gave him a clean salt block. I finally gave him two carrots and put him back happily in his stall. Next, I went and took Fortuna out of his stall and led him into the pasture in placed him on the hot walker. I let him run around with that and then I ran around with him in the pasture. - Taking care of my three horses... -- Court, 20:15:46 02/14/03 Fri
*Feeding*
I go into the barn and into the feed room. I open a new bag of Super 10 Sweet Feed and make 3 buckets of feed. All horses get 3/4 of a scoop in the morning and 3/4 at night along w/ 3 flakes of T&A hay.
*Grooming*
I go get Seeker out of his stall and cross-tie him. I give him a good grooming because he has a lesson at 4. Once I pick his feet out, I put him back and retrieve Patch. I have to work hard on him because he has manure stains on his white patches. Once that is finished, I go get Finney. He doesnt need much so a simple brush and hes done.

- Welcome -- Courtney, 11:31:25 02/03/03 Mon
Welcome to the care board! Here is an ex. of what you can post.
Riding EX.
* I take King out of his stall and tack him up. We practice the jumps today. The first time King knocked two donw, but the second time he was perfect! I cool him down, and put him back in his stall. We had a great ride
Grooming EX.
* I take King out of his stall, and bring him outside. I go back into the barn, and get out his grooming supplies. King loves being brushed, so he stood perfectly still while I groomed him. I gave him a carrot for being a good boy, and returned him back to his stall.
Feeding EX.
* I bring some hay and sweet feed over to King's stall. I open the stall door and throw the hay down. King munches it hapily. When he is finished with the hay, I give him the sweet feed that i brought with me. He finishes it in a few minutes. I pat him on the neck, and close the stall door.
***NOTE: YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THESE EXAMPLES. REMEMBER THEY ARE ONLY EXAMPLES. YOU CAN MAKE UP YOUR OWN***
