Trotting out the “our children must not be exposed to the adverse thoughts of non-conformists” is certainly predictable, it’s the foundation of all censorship.
In an islamic country, YOU would be the nutcase screaming obscenities. We have had ample proof of the resulting twisted thinking this censorship produces, children growing up believing the “nutcases” must be destroyed.
I have children, they have experienced the good in people and the bad. They are in their late teens, and due to the relaxation of the stranglehold the censors had on America prior to the 1960s, they’re far more in tune with the world than I was at the same age. In countries where the nutcases aren’t allowed to scream, the average adult inhabitant understands less of the world around them than my children did at age 15. This lack of understanding makes them fear the outside world, and strike out at it in “self-defense”.
Every time a line is drawn between what “is allowed” and what “is not allowed”, what “is not allowed” becomes a huge, highly profitable industry -- sex is a perfect example: The pornography industry thrives on censorship.
Whoever thought up the phrase “The road to hell is paved with good intentions” must have had people like you, the moderator, and all other self-appointed censors in mind.
