I think I know what you're getting at. If I want to go to Disneyland, I'll go to Disneyland ! ~g~ I don't need to wait for a bike rally to be held there.
When I head for a Gathering, I'm looking forward mostly to the people, then the rides - pretty country, quiet interesting roads, a destination I haven't seen which could just be a small park or a great place for lunch, then comfortable lodging with maybe a few things to do close-by.
I don't think we need a lot of WOW factor in our location.
Or maybe I'm just getting on a bit. Naaaaah...
