Wayne and Karen:

To answer some of your questions and concerns. First the choise of Bowling Green was made and then the search was on to find a suitable location to hold the functions at. It was a long process and the local Chanber of Commerce and a gentleman by the name of Duncan Heinz that helped us was a great asset. We looked at a lot of different places and locations most we could not afford or were to small to fit our needs and in the middle of town where it would have been hard to get to.
And then the next thing we look at is the location price and quality of the motels and campground.
Duncan steered us to the Beach Bend Park as their facilities fit our needs for bike games, bike shows, registration, dinners, vendors, etc. It is 3 miles from the motel that was willing to work with us and give us a great rate on rooms.

And the campground at the park is first rate and removed from the amusement park area with quiet hours enforced. The enclosed and air conditiond pavilion that we will be using is by the campground within walking distance. The rally is not at the Park - yes it is next to it but in a totally different area.

But, first, the location of Bowling Green was picked because of the location - the great rides, the great scenery, Mammoth Cave, Lost River Cave, the Corvette Museum right across the street from the motel, which will be part of our pre-rally function (a group tour and dinner afterwards), among other things.

As I said before, the rally is not at the part of Beech Bend that is the amusement park. It is on the back side of the property, mostly removed from both the track and the amusement park. So, you will not be going into the park and waiting in lines unless you decide to do so. (We are NOT including the amusement park in any of our official AVA functions). And the rally is in the middle of the week, so no races are scheduled that we are aware of.

Beech Bend has made our dinners and registration spots affordable, which helps us keep the rally price down. This is one of things that we look for in a rally location - affordability.

We hope you reconsider going to Bowling Green next summer. It will be another great AVA rally experience.

And for everybody's information, as of today, the AVA board came to a decision after four months of work on the 2009 - 20th Anniversary rally - and, yes, it will be out west. We looked at over 40 different locations before we finally came to a decision. We put a lot of time, effort, and thought into choosing our rally locations. And we always keep our members in mind with our choices.

Duane Ash, AVA Chairman
