You know, you guys are both right. I'm all for "passing it forward" when the situation presents itself, and for getting a fair return (or at least breaking even) on an investment, when it is necessary to maintain the local economy (mine). I don't think anyone is suggesting that an AVA member or associate would really expect to milk a fellow rider for $1400.00 for that CB unit just because it's been done before, or who would want to be the guy who is selling stock driver and passenger seats on ebay with a starting bid set at $300.00 (each!).
We all know our comfort zones. And, the AVA crowd is and has been by far the most generous group of folks when it comes to assisting each other. At the same time, I don't believe that AVA members expect bargan basement prices just because, or want freebies because they deserve them.
When Carl (Bill) Leo was mentioned above, nothing else needed to be said. Carl makes his ends meet, but, he also provides the highest level of support to all his customers. And, that has always been the case wether he was making a sale of just providing support and assistance. Come on!, we all want to grow up to be "just like Carl", don't we. Or at least, we'd like others to treat us as if we were.
I'm sure no one was intentionally slighted in the previous post and the discussions developed from some slight mis-read line.
I always think back and remember that every rider friend I have, it was through the association with the AVA that brought us together. There has been no downside that I can think of.
Whew, sorry folks for getting of on a tangent. Did I mention I have a bridge that I want to sell.......
