Several years ago, our Voyager mechanic here instructed me to just simply use WD40 or similar lube on throtle, clutch & choke cables. Anything thicker would be no good. I then bought a simple chain luber from JC Whitney and disconnect the cables at the upper end, attach the luber and get WD40 into the upper end until it comes out the other. As for Speedo cables, many years ago, a wise old mechanic instructed me to make a small amount of vasoline/graphite paste to lube speedo cables. These methods are simple & I have never had any cable problems yet.
