 I know this topic has come up a lot before, but I don’t recall what I’ve found to be mentioned. Let me first ask – am I missing something here or on our ‘boards? - At our ‘Wrench Day” Saturday - with much appreciated and experienced help, I changed the front fork oil in my ’03. As a final check, we followed the AVA post & the Wyzard’s FAQ & measured down 160mm from the top of the each tube as a final check. All seemed well & good until I later saw the Addendum in the Kaw shop manual (that we had open all afternoon but didn’t notice- ! DOH!. Now I’m really confused and am asking for help. In the “supplement for the 2000 – 2003 models” it states that the oil level in the fully compressed front forks should be 177 mm +/- 2mm (not the FAQ-stated 160mm figure – a difference of a over a 1/2 inch), but also states the volume *increased* from 330 mL to 336 mL. The manual also cautioned that too much oil can “..cause oil leakage & seal breakage.” Ok, I lowered the level to 177mm to be safe, but now I’m confused. Which is the correct figure for my ’03 Voyager & why don’t any of the FAQ’s note the change or give the “177 mm” measure (do they need updating?)? Also, The addendum sez the 2000 -2003’s take more oil but measure farther away from the top of the fork - I don't understand how that can be unless - is the inside of the fork is a larger diameter? Am I doing something wrong here ??
