Scott, please do not give up.
I have a varied back ground in automotive related repairs.
my advice is that you dig in your heels,don`t give up,be very firm and ask for their help,don`t get upset,when one person says that they can`t help go to the next person up the chain.
I have expeirenced this in many situations with many different company`s. most times you will at least get an offer that the company will cover some of the cost.
any thing would be better than parting out a XII that simply needs a starter chain and a ignition module replace.
this is a Kawasaki fault and they have covered lots of them . why not yours!
