Mike is so correct. In fact a good many company insurance policies will NOT cover you for any Two or Three wheeled vehicles on or off the hard surface. You must be in a cage. In fact you would not believe the 'list' of things that is not covered. Some of the things on the list is something you might want to bring up at a party because you will most certainly get a laugh out of it. AND, you might want to check on this also,,, even if you have your own insurance for your bike, some companies will not give you leave time if you get into a wreck on your bike. This is because those same companies list 'NO' bikes covered in their insurance. This is called, I believe, 'a roll over rule'. You might want to check that also and find a supplimental income insurance should you get hurt on your bike and can't work for a while. In fact, if your 'off work' for a motorcycle injury, they might even be able to lay you off for not showing up to work. They might consider it your fault because you were injured on a bike when they don't want you to be on one. These are sad facts but in some cases, true. No one ever said the ones making the laws had to have gray matter. CHECK. Also, some companies will NOT even allow motorcycles on the company grounds. I have a friend that rides his bike to work and has for the last 14 years. The company he works for has this policy and he has made arrangements to park at a place next door. Really sucks but as he says, the $$$ is good.
I have Progressive insurance on my bike because I get great coverage and the price is right. I may not like what they do with 'their' money and there is nothing I can say or do that will change their habbits. Nor would they care what I have to say. I'm not even pocket change to all their $$$. My need is real and immediate. Low price right now is a must. I suppose if I had extra cash to play with, I still wouldn't change unless the cost went way up. They have always taken care of my needs. Right now, I'm not even on a beer budget. There are a lot of companies I Strongly disagree with but my opinion is nothing more than a dried up drop of rain to all the money they have. Now if there is a nation wide vote being taken, I'll act accordingly. Until than, I've got more important things I need to focus on. ;O)
