Yes, many studies confirm that men are more prone to unprovoked aggression, which is what I was discussing. Women are not wimps. We will defend ourselves when provoked. We do so in a style that befits the fact that we are generally physically weaker and so tend to use our brains instead of brute force. Thus, men are more physically aggressive and we tend to verbal aggression in response to being provoked. Still meta-analysis shows that men are more aggressive in both ways than women. We are also, reasonably, slightly more inclined to see provocations as threatening than men -- Bettencourt & Miller (1996).

In his book "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus," John Gray notes that women cope with stress by reaching out and talking, while men cope with stress by withdrawing. This is one basis for my saying we are more open while men are more secretive.

In her more heavily documented book, "You just don’t understand: women and men in conversation," Deborah Tannen motes that men live in a world of status and seek to win, while we live in a world of connections and seek closeness. That is why men are more competitive and we more cooperative -- as I said. She also notes that men are more adversarial while we tend toward synergy, seeking common goals.

My M.S. is in computer science, which involves more logic than you need to bother your pretty head with.

"Females exhibited greater emotional self-disclosure to parents and peers than did males." -- Papini, Farmer, Clark, Micka, et al. (1990), "Early adolescent age and gender differences in patterns of emotional self-disclosure to parents and friends." Adolescence, 25:100, pp. 959-76.

We are also more open to experience. "McCrae et al. (2002) measured personality in 230 students twice, during the sixth grade and then four years later. Girls scored higher at both points in time. In a second study, McCrae et al. (2002) tested 1,947 high school students and found females scored significantly higher on Openness. Misra (2003) studied 156 Indian students and also found higher Openness scores in females." -- Bare & Kaufman (2006), "Gender Differences in Creativity." Journal of Creative Behavior 42, pp. 75-105.

On lying: "Aversion to lying has been consistently observed in sender–receiver games. Women have demonstrated greater aversion to lying for a small monetary benefit in these games than men." -- Childs (2011), "Gender differences in lying," Economics Letters, 114:2, February 2012, pp. 147–9

Where are your studies?
