He once called me "the Queen Of Cold" and described me as "colder than the Titanic's iceberg".
He even said that my heart was like a block of glacial ice. And then eighteen days ago he started
to thaw it out. Eighteen days since a mission went wrong and twelve operatives were killed. One
of them was my friend Janalyce. I wanted to scream. I wanted to shout. I wanted to punch the
walls that seemed to be closing in around me. I jumped out of my seat. That's when he grabbed
me and held me tight. My arms were pressed against his chest. His arms so tight around me it
was like being wrappped in a blanket. Eighteen days since I saw a side of him I never suspected
he had. The warm and caring side. How do I show him I have the same side? How do I melt
away the ice that he says surrounds my cold heart? Or is it the coldness and aloofness of each
other that we admire and find attractive? All I can do is change myself. Somehow become warmer.
Continue what he started. The warm dreams and fantasies I have at night, lying in the bed that the
Section had supplied, help for only a few minutes until I am tired and fall asleep. No matter how
cold it gets the blanket that Section has supplied will never be as warm as the blanket that was his arms.
Even that once.
