Green Challenge - Spoilers for TITB. Even tho I disliked this ep, the thought of M & N taking off together at the end... well...

*****

I lay at the edge of sleep. An unfamiliar noise is trying to waken me.

Birds. That's what they are. Birds.

Lord, can't they sleep a little longer? What time is it anyway? Stretching my arms, my shoulders flush to the featherbed beneath me, I touch something solid. Opening my eyes, bare slits, golden light begins to penetrate. I can feel every inch of my skin, and my abused soul emerges to seek renewal.

He sleeps next to me, his breathing heavy, a hand upon his chest, looking as carelessly placed as the rest of him. Hair is in disarray. Pale skin, dappled with tiny goosebumps as the chilly morning air begins to invade the tent, gives up its scars and bruises.

I slide from beneath the warmth of the covers and crawl to the doorway. Unzipping the mosquito netting, I sidle forward until my feet hit cool grass, moist with dew. Sunlight strengthens and pierces the morning.

Green.

It's green.

Everywhere.

As far as my eyes can see.

A hand touches the back of my neck. I turn and shiver.
