Hello all.

Thought it about time I dropped you an e-mail to let you know how I'm doing.

Unfortunately I don't have much news as I've spent the last few months just working loads. I still have my job in the Manly Wharf Resturant. I've only got three weeks left there as my Working Visa only allows me to spend three months in any one place.

However ... I was asked the other day by the owner if I could stay and be the Resturant Manager. They would sponcer me to be there for Two years and then I couls claim residency. I gave it a lot of thought, but I'm not really ready for such a big commitment ... plus I haven't seen any of Oz yet or NZ, so I turned it down. But it was nice to know they wanted me to stay.

Think I will stay in Sydney for another month or two and then head up the East coast. However my plans reley very heavily on cash, so may have to stay here until I can afford to go !!!

Anyway, hope you're all ok and life in Europe isn't too cold for you. I'm going to head off now down to the beach and play a bit of volleyball. 38 degrees today !!!

Will message soon

Lot of love

James

Well I'm still having a great time in Thailand. I'm staying on an island called Ko Phi Phi which was where the beach was filmed. I've been here about 9 days now as it's so lovely.

I signed up to do my Open Water PADI course the other day and completed it yesturday. It was so amazing. I was lucky enough to be able to swim with a Whale Shark. My instructor had been diving for 15 years and never had the chance. It was a once in a life time experience. At one point I was only one meter away from its open mouth which was large enough to swallow me whole. Fortunately they are veggies, but still scary.

I'm now signed up to do my advanced course starting tomorrow. It's so cheap and addictive. I'm going to be diving in a Ship Wreck and learning underwater photography.

Think I will be heading South to Ko Lanta on Monday ... after the England Rugby game. So I will up date you from there.

As promised here is my first update from Thailand.

Got into Bangkok almost a week ago now and had no problems finding somewhere to stay. There are so many backpackers it's actually quite a shame. You think you're doing something no one else does and then it feels like London overseas.
Anyway saw loads of very impressive temple in Bangkok and visited the zoo where I saw the most bizarre animals, some of which weren't even in cages!

I'm now down South in Krabi which is so much nicer. No smog, less traffic, a few less backpackers. I've only been here a day, but I'm heading off to a few beaches to relax for a while. It's all been very hectic so far which wasn't the plan!

There are so many island off the West cost ( about 200) so I'm going to spend a good week checking out a few of them. There's one called Chicken Island which looks so similar to a chicken it's unreal, and that's from the ground! Also going to visit the island where they filmed 'The Beach'. Very touristy I know but other people I've met have said it's well worth a look. Also the island where they filmed one of the James Bond films is round here so I give that a visit too.

I've met so many people out here on their own travelling. I thought it might have been a problem to begin with but sometimes it's hard to just be on your own and relax. Also there are probably more people my age than Gap Year students which is nice.

Anyway the hamsters powering this computer are about to give up the chase so I'd better go and catch my boat to the beach. Will update you all as soon as I hit civilization again.

Hello Everyone.

I just thought I'd leave you all a quick message before I shoot off around the world to say good bye

Well I'm off this Sunday (12th October) and will be flying into Bangkok to spend a month lying on beaches and eatig exotic fruits. After Thailand I'm heading over to Australia.

First port of call is Sydney just in time for the semi-final and final of the Rugby World Cup! Plan obviously!
I plan to spend 11 months in Australia as I have a working Visa. I have got myself a job already sorted out in Sydney, so I will do that up to Xmas and the New Year and then travel up the East Coast to see James and Co.

The overall plan is to work for two months, travel for one month, work for another two etc etc ...

When my years working visa is up (12th October 2004) I've got a flight booked to Auckland in New Zealand where I'm planning on getting a working Visa as well for a year. I'm kind of thinking I may as well do it now whilst I can and if I don't like it I can always jump on a plane back to good old England.

So anyway I'm going to be adding little bits to this page from my travels, so if you'd like to know what I'm doing and where I'm doing it keep logged on.

See You All Soon'ish

James x

Hello everyone

As I'm the first to post a message on this board, I don't reckon there's much of a chance anyone will read it - but here goes...

Joe and I are the proud owners of a cottage in France - this is no word of a lie - we took the plunge when we were there in June, and will be going to sign for it in September, all going well. Raucous isn't it....

We did it because at some stage we would like to live there, and we figured that we ought to get something whilst we're in a position to increase our mortgage in Britain.

It's in a mountain village called St Gervais sur Mare in the Languedoc, not far from Beziers. It's a two bedroom house, with two bathrooms, a terrace and a lovely living room with an open fire. It's a traditional house made of stone, and is part 14th century, and part 18th century. The village is quiet, but has a bar, a restaurant/auberge, a pizzeria and quite a few shops (baker, butcher, grocer, chemist etc).

It's about an hour to the sea, and there's swimming in the river nearby. If anyone wants to go there for a holiday, they are welcome - we promise to offer competitive rates...!

The nearest airports are Montpelier (just over an hour), Carcassone (about 1.5 - 2 hours), Toulouse (probably about 2 hours) and Perpignan (about 2.5 hours).

Ben - we have pictures on the computer which we could send you so you can put them on the site - what do you think?

Anyway, we hope everyone is well

lots of love

Theresa and Joe
