- Aren't people vile? How hard is it to be nice? And don't these people know you can spit in their breakfast coffee? I have to put up with ghastly ticks too - but at least I can drug them unconcious if they get too out of hand. (NT) -- Kim, 31/08/08 9:25

- Jeanne, I suggest to purge the horror of your "hospitality industry experience" from your mind that you read (or re-read, no doubt) David Sedaris' hysterically funny "SantaLand Diaries" about when he was so low on the job chain that he applied for and got a job at Macy's as a SantaLand Elf. NPR plays it every Christmas season several times (and always once on Christmas Eve). It's amusing to read, but to hear it read by the author with his inimitable voice, style and delivery is truly one of life's rich experiences. (NT) -- Bill "Crumpit" T., 1/09/08 10:28

- P.S. I am feeling very rejected today. I've been rejected for some reason by three heretofore very nice and sociable people that I used to share conversations, snacks and magazines with at the shelter. I've got tough skin, but it hurts when the only people you can communicate with intelligently and in a civil manner snub you in every manner possible. Oh, well, fuck them.
