Last week on Tuesday at the end of the novice class we think someone may have picked up a stray hard shoe by mistake. The shoe is a right shoe, Rutherford size 10 with the name Quinn on the bottom.
We have not been able to locate it and will need it for the Kathleen Fearon Feis on the weekend. If you have it please call 905-891-6172 or bring it to the dance studio.

MacKenzie took 3rd in the PC under 13 at the Putnam feis today! Was a very Chilly experience to be at an outdoor feis and despite leaving before the results were done, she took 3rd and is very happy. Not everyone has their results. Lots of delays in tabulation!

Laminated signs can be written on with a dry-erase marker then wiped off? Yes or no?

Girls Under 14 is over two days so this split has just been announced. The rest of the splits won't be announced until after the late-entry date of May 18th since it is not necessary (beyond curiosity) to know this far in advance. There is a small possibility these splits won't be completely even and that would only occur if there is an influx of late entries between now and the 18th in favour of one side of the split.

(Competitions commence Saturday 17th October)
The Great Britain 2009 website is now live. This website includes vital information relating to booking this years on-site accomodation.
Booking lines open for Teachers at 9am on Tuesday 5th May. Teachers MUST quote Great British Irish Dance Championships 865 and MUST provide their CLRG registration number, which will be cross-referenced against the current CLRG list. You will not be able book without your number.
Booking lines open for the general public (non-teachers) at 8am on Monday 11th May. Non-teachers MUST quote Great Britain Irish Dance Championships 862.
If any non-teachers book in the first week their bookings will be cancelled and deposits returned.
There should be no shortage of accommodation this year, as there is no 'cap' on numbers of GBs guests. There will thus be NO FACILITY to book via a regular Butlins package and then buy a wristband. Those who do not book via the dedicated GBs line will NOT gain entry to the Irish dancing venues.

A big THANK YOU to all who organized and supervised the various St Patrick's Day shows. Maggie had a fantastic time from start to finish!

It is a gorgeous day. The sun is shining and the temperatures are forecasted to reach 14 degrees. Today I turn 55 and I am going for a 13 mile run and for the first time this year I will be wearing shorts. It also will be 76 days in a row without a miss. So, HAVE FUN DANCING AND HAPPY ST.PADDY'S DAY EVERYONE.

If you are up for 8:00, watch CBC news morning and you might see dancers from the Senior Ceili who are joining the show from the Irish Embassy Pub in Toronto! They are to be featured between 8 and 9 am.
For the rest of our GC dancers, if you are on a bus, joining in a show through the day or sunning yourself on vacation, have a great St. Patrick's Day!

Phwoar, I'm busy tonight.
The school feis entry deadline is this week. There are still a lot of entries to come from PC and OC. We purposely set the date to be before worlds to give WQs the chance to dance on a big stage, the chance to get critiquing from new judges and the chance to have your dancing videotaped before Worlds. Most importantly, we want you to participate to give back to the community which has given you so much. Let our next generation of dancers see how good they can be one day!!! Forget who beats whom; focus on your own individual performance and just do your best. It's tough to compete against your friends but doing so will help to mold you into the tough international competitor you want to be.
Everyone - please get your entries in so our volunteers can order the correct amount of awards and start to prepare the competitor lists and dancer numbers.

Perpetual trophies are due in advance of the feis with winners' names engraved. Please bring them to the studio this week since next week is March Break. If anyone is in touch with Sean, Amelia or Elizabeth, please ask them to arrange for return of their trophies.

I left my prescription glasses at the Claddagh Ball - I think the staff found them and gave them to the DJ - can someone let me know who the DJ was or perhaps they ended up mixed in with silent auction leftover staging materials? Help - small print is getting smaller!
If found, I can pick them up at the dance hall anytime - they are copper coloured progressive lens with plastic brown sidearms. Thanks!

Spirit Wear orders will close after the school feis on March 28th. That means there are only a couple of weeks left to get your orders in. There are two ways to get your order in;
1. Complete an order form, include a cheque payable to the OIDA and place them in the mailbox at the studio before March 28th.
2. Give your cheque and order form with payment directly to me at the GC School Feis on March 28th. I will be at the table selling GC items.
The Oakville Irish Dance Association will use all net proceeds of the GC Spirit Wear sales to further support our dancers and dance community throughout the year. Thanks in advance for your support.
