Subject: New airborne books...

This past weekend, I got to see the new Schiffer Pathfinder book and De Trez's book on 505th Vet Robert (?) Piper.
The pathfinder book was a giant disappointment to me. Sure, they had some decent stuff to get pics of, but I could have gotten better quality from my flatbed scanner and second-hand printer (NO, I'm not kidding. it's THAT bad of quality). I don't think I'd have bought it for $5.00, but FIFTY? You'll be seeing them on sale pretty soon for that price!
As for the De Trez book, it has a LOT of period pics, but it's more like a good scrapbook. We'd all love to find a scrapbook with these pics in it at a garage sale, but I'm not convinced that it's worth over $30.00 unless you REALLY are an obsessed 505th fan. I was hoping for a book like the Forrest Guth one (which i DID buy), but there's not much new stuff there...
