OUTSTANDING.

I highly recommend this wonderfully written tribute to the 505th RCT and the Sicily campaign. Drawing on many new as well as classic sources the author takes the reader from the early theory of US airborne doctrine through it's debute in American military history.

Written in an easy and accessible style author Ed Ruggero provides a lucid and compelling narrative that will keep you turning the pages. He avoids over editorializing leaders' judgements and lets the reader decide for themselves.

I look forward to the Discovery/History Channel program made from the book. I also understand it is the first in a series that will tell the story if the 505 and the rest of the eighty-deuce through every campaign they fought during WW2.
