Don't really see the problem.

Think of Willow's timeline being represented just below...

W---W--W .... W--W--W

Willow exists "now" and continues to exist all the way into the "future".

Now Buffy jumps directly from "now" (where the now-Willow is) to the "future" (where the future-Willow is). Willow isn't in two places at the same time, it's just that Buffy has jumped directly from one time to the other.

There IS the question of whether the "future" that Buffy is in is an inevitable future or whether it is potentially changeable.

(There is precedent in the Jossverse for a seen future to be changeable. Specifically the episode "Time Bomb" in AtS S5.)

So Willow is now Immortal? I hope he explains that.

I think that is the problem I am trying to swallow. Or not.

She's already demonstrated the ability to heal some very serious injuries to herself almost instantaneously. Don't see any particular reason why she shouldn't be effectively immortal with that kind of power.

Futures are totally evitable. Changing the past is considerably more difficult. And harder to predict/control.

The problem is that when you're IN the future (as Willow and Buffy are), it's the present. So, even if Willow has brought Buffy into her present to confront Fray, it won't change anything unless she sends her back to change the past.

The writers can make that happen, of course, but it would be very difficult to do without masking the entire 'Fray' comic book into an alternate future that never really happened.
