Subject: Joss gets a "Forry"

According to a posting this morning at Whedonesque, last night Joss Whedon was awarded the 2008 Forrest J Ackerman award for Lifetime Achievement in the field of Science Fiction (presented by the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society and announced each year at LOSCON).

(Note that the Forry Award page at the LASFS site has not yet been updated.)

I'm sure he appreciates the honor, but isn't it a little early to be giving him that sort of award? He has a new TV show starting in February and at least one movie that's been greenlit for development ("Cabin In The Woods"). Aren't they supposed to give these things out to people who are nearing the end of the careers, instead of people who seem to be smack dab in the middle of them?
