Subject: Something I remember and APPRECIATE Why I LOVE Buffy

And something that I do have to give credit for to Joss Whedon.

Ever since I delved back into comics "DC" mostly and keeping up with Buffy's journey in comics, Joss Whedon shows how it is NOT pretty being a Superhero and sometimes you have to do the hardest things to SAVE the World. Even Kill.

Joss Whedon did that with Buffy and also with Angel they will kill a loved one to save the world. That is a HARD thing to do.

In DC Comics which is basically aimed at adults and young adults now, they drill it to the audience that being a Superhero means "you should NEVER kill. EVER! No humans, no Aliens no kiLling of ANY kind no matter how EVIL and VILE (Wow those words are spellt the same huh?) to keep the world safe.

Case in Point: There is an evil being in comics Supermanprime and he is UBER powerful and he has destroyed OTHER worlds and when it comes push to shove the Good Superheroes find it hard to even contemplate killing him. They put him away once. He found a way to escape and he is killing again. I mean c'mon were it Buffy she would have not only contemplated but KILLED that evil threat.

I remember a few issues back in Buffy and they had a vampire in a Magickal barrier to get info. Buffy told that vampire that if he told her everything she needed to know she would let him go. He told her everything he knew. And she killed him anyay. I was proud of her. I know some of you might think I am sadistic but he is a Vampire. The only two Vampires that shouldn;t be dusted is Angel and Spike.

Regardless of how sometimes I feel about Mr. Whedon at times he has given us, or me a TRUE Superhero. One that took that vow to keep the World, Women Children and Men safe and she will kill to do that.

Thanks Joss.

It isn't really a bad idea for someone like Superman (who not only is almost invulnerable but can literally destroy the planet) to have an absolute no-kill rule.

Indeed such a clear demonstration of restraint is probably useful for Superman as it helps him gain the trust that is a strong asset for him (and for the Justice League as a whole).

(Just a note. If it's the same scene I'm thinking of, as far as we can tell Buffy did NOT actually agree that she'd let the vampire go if he told her everything he know.)

In Superman's case while yes, he does have "absolute" power....I can see him not killing villains like The Joker, The Cheetah, Catwoman. Those villains don't have power that could decimate a state/City let alone a Planet

But in cases like, Mongul and Darkseid who are evil beings hell bent in taking human lives and literally decimating the entire planet of all life. I think it is his responsibilty to take care of that threat and even mull the idea of SLAYING that threat if need be. The "Boy Scout" stance is so childish to be honest.

I think Buffy did tell that vampire she will let him go if he gave her information. I am not 100% sure. I will reread that issue again.

I think that is why I am really appreciating Buffy now. You have to do what must be done to make sure lives are safe from those types of evil.
