Hi Cheryl! Scarlett and I are just trying to stay cool. We have been fortunate to stay at the beach quite a bit this summer. How long does it take for you guys to drive to Myrtle Beach????? Our daughter and grandchildren are in Atlanta, and it takes them 6 hours to Atlantic beaches and six hours to the Gulf Shores beaches. I hope to spend some time with them soon.

Scarlett is wonderful as always but she is developing an unusual behavior I think. When she was "one of the pack" of four dogs, she had lots and lots of self confidence. Now I think she is confused about her life role. I just want her to be my companion, but sometimes she think she is supposed to be my protector.

This is a new behavior where she postures as a big bad militant dog, but in reality she then will run and hide like someone is "gonna get her". This is new and I wish I knew how to let her know I don't want her to be as protective of me as she thinks she needs to be.

I saw your post re: Butler's 4th of July birthday. Scarlett's birthday is July 1 and she is now six years old.

Scarlett's favorite addiction right now is riding on the golf cart at the beach. All dogs must be on leashes down there and I am trying to teach Scarlett to pick up and bring her leash with her as she darts out the back door.

Kaycee cat and Scarlett are so funny together. The cat is dominant and I have to take up for Scarlett who runs from the cat. Lately though, she will turn on the cat with a huge bark as if to say "enough already". and cat knows when to quit. They are so cute taking turns chasing each other.

I kind of think everyone is squeezing in some last vacation time before the start of school. Rebecca is starting school this year and I cannot believe she is old enough.

How is Titus and your kids doing?
