Subject: problem with turn signals

I am experiencing the following with the turn signals on my '03 Voyager. Sometimes the turn signals work and sometimes they don't. There is no clear pattern. The problem can be for the right turn as well as the left turn signal, as well as the emergency flashers. Sometimes they work as normal. Sometimes they don't work at all. Sometimes they won't work after pushing the turn switch, then start working until they self-cancel. Self-cancel feature works fine and turns off switch when it should. When the turn signal arrow on the dash is working, the front and real signals are working. When the arrow on the dash isn't working neither are the rear and front turn signal. Anyone have any ideas regarding what is going on?
