Dave
I have the u joint taken apart. TThere was ample grease in all of the caps! Cleaning will do no good as there are groves worn into the area of the cross where the bearing caps support it. I rubbed my thumb nail across the groves and i can feel them with my thumb nail. I also checked the swing arm bearings. The bearing races show the same groves as the u-joint did. However, I can not feel them when i drag my thumb nail over them. Since I have it all apart i think I will go ahead and replace the bearings and races I would guess that I can get them locally. My plan is to do this maintaince and then check the u joint and swing arm bearings after around 30000 more miles.
I was going to change the shock fluid but changed my mind since they seem to be working well.
Stan
