Subject: swing arm

i put my bike up for winter 2 days ago.i wanted to replace the 2 o-rings on drive shaft so i desided to remove swing arm and check the bearings and found them to be worn, there was no side play but was rough when moved up and down.when i held bearing in my hand and tried to move the bearing it would stick and then move.i got new bearing at napa and packed them in greaseand reisalled swing arm.there was still grease on the old bearings.my bike is a 99 with about 40,000 miles if your bike has more miles perhaps you should check bearins. i also drilled a hole on top of final drive and installed an air vent with a hose attached to it. my new metzlers should be here in a couple of days.sorry for long post but wanted you to know about the low mileage on bearings....jack
