MM.. What year is yours? 87 onwards had deflector wings attached on the side of the fairing that certainly helped.
. Also check for the engine seal.. Look into the fairing by the cylinders.. Deep in, there should be some neoprene seals (like pipe insulators) that stop a lot of the heat from the exhaust pipes slipping past the side of the engine..
