Sounds like the first place to check would be rear drive train. Noise may be coming from either trans, or right angle gears at rear of engine or rear end. Make sure you have proper amt of oil in engine and in rear end. The rear end tends to have a whine to it but it should not be excessive. If you have the axle nut way to tight it may create a the noise, Loosen axle nut to where it is tight and then go to the next hole to put cotter pin in. You may have rear gears wore out or brgs. Check for rear end play. Put XII in gear and on bottom of rear end there is a open notch 1" wide, mark wheel hub at one end of notch and move wheel and mark should go to other side of notch only not farther. If you can't find anything obvious get in touch with Carl Leo, 713-413-8666, HE can help you he has parts and can help diagnose the problem better than anyone. If you need a rear end he would be able to get you one.
