I don't know if you let it set for any amount of time but if you do it would be a good idea to get a Battery Tender and keep it plugged in, due to the radio drawing power when the bike is off it will drain the battery. A battery Tender or (smart charger) will keep it at peak without overcharging. I did this after losing a battery and they frying my alt. on a trip to Daytona. If you noticed, you turn sigs didnt cancel when you battery was going low, that's the 1st clue something was up. Don't know if this helps but I will throw it out there. I plug in anytime I not riding, even overnight.
