while I agree with Doug on the Progressive spring upgrade, the springs are for the compression side of the equation and you noise occurs on the rebound dampening side of the equation. If it were me, I would change out the front shock fluid for 10 weight fork/motor oil and if the clunk still occurs try 15 weight. The oil, along with the dampening valves,is the rebound dampening media so it can have a big effect. If it still clunks then I would perform a tear down to see what is wrong.
But,
that's just what I would do.
