The battery light is only a indicator of what the level of the water is in the battery and it has a sensor that plugs into a hole in the battery. If you inserted it into battery then light should go out, if it did not go out means not enough acid in battery or sensor is defective, it is made out of lead and sometimes the end corrodes and becomes to short & does not reach liquid in battery. It operates with a resistor just before the sensor and sometimes the resistor becomes seperated in the little clear plastic case it is in. The sensor operates from +12v meaning if it is not making contact with the battery liquid it will turn the light on! When you buy a battery that has no hole in it for the sensor you then just have to connect that sensor wire to a +12v source to turn the light off. You can just run it to the + terminal of the battery or connect it to any +12v plus wire in the system you can find with a test light. A easy one is a orange one at the turn signal relay right neXt to the + side of the battery and sensor wire. Need to know if you have good sensor connected to battery ??
