If you only have 6 to 9 volts starting that indicates that the battery is not functioning properly.
Maybe connection cable terminals need cleaning both battery and connections should always be "Shiny"

Even though it is a new battery you should have it "Load Tested" at a Auto parts store, it is free.. It should never go below 10.5 volts on a start. If a new battery is not set up right from the initial charge they can go south very quickly.

If battery checks out good you may have a bad connection in the start circuit, look for corroded wires, bulges or a pinched wire (CABLE). Let us know what you find and we will go from there...
