Subject: Hot Clutch cover

I just got my 1986 Voyager last October 2007 and although I've had a few problems, (ie: Alternator went out and one of the rear wheel bearings turned to dust. ) I still put a 4000 mile trip on it to Phoenix last month. Now that it is really summer and pretty warm, I've noticed what may or may not be an issue. The right hand cover over what I think is the clutch plates seems pretty hot. Is this normal or just how warm should this cover get? Thanks for any help...
