Since I have not had to remove the tire since I installed the hitch,I am not if it would have to be removed to get the tire off. If the hitch has to come off to remove the tire, it will take an extra half hour or so to get the tire off not the handiest but not a big deal either.
Wish I could give you a more definite answer on this.
