In all automobiles have either radio supression wire, plugs or boots in them. This is nothing new and has been around for years. Touring bikes have the same thing because of the radios on them.
I agree about the resistance that the ohm readings in a piece of wire but it so small has to be of no concern unless it is measured over a very long distance. I have been a electronic technician for over 35 years. The resistance measured in wire for a stator is measuring wire that might be several 100's feet long in the windings. The same is true for a transformer. And since I work for the telephone company the ohms measured in wire going from the central office to someones house is several thousands of feet.
However the the distance for spark plug wire or the boots for spark plug wires is much shorter and therefore makes a big difference in performance.
Back in my hot rod days I used to have 2 sets of spark plug wires for my Toyoata Celica. I had the radio supression set(resistor) for driving around. I had the straight copper wire set for the drag strip. I could change them in less than 5 minutes, made a big difference in performance. Especially when 0.10 of a second matter, and could still have my radio for cruising. I then learned that the only wire that really mattered was the wire from the coil to distributor. So I only changed it at the track.
So if you don't care about static in the radio of your XII go ahead and use the straight copper wires. I personally like to listen to radio when I ride.
