Subject: Radiator Fan does not come on

Not a problem on the highway, but buzzing around the city the temp gauge is getting awfully close to red without the fan coming on. Anybody got any ideas on how to check out what might be the problem, any quick fixes? I was thinking of heading to Sturgis this weekend...
