You are absolutely correct Keith. Kawasaki in fact did NOT put the fuel filter in backward. It was installed just the way it was intended. Yes it is true that some people think it is backward, maybe because some of the after market ones are clear to see through and there are arrows pointing the direction of flow. Not all filters flow in one direction. You are also correct that the stock filter has two sizes of nozzles and can go only one way because of the two fuel line diameters. Now for a little logic. The surface area of the filtering material itself is exactly the same on each side. It also has a different volume area outside the material surface which makes no difference if the material itself is plugged up. Now, I know what some of you are thinking. The larger volumed area can hold a lot more garbage. Again, when the fuel starts flowing, its all sucked against the filtering material. Fine particals of this garbage will remain on the filtering material even after the motor is shut off. Thus stopping the flow.
Back to the main point,,, the filter was not installed backward. BUT, if some of you still wish to think it was, thats ok, I don't mind.
